We work to prevent, disrupt and heal from hate violence in our communities. We do this through educational programs that center the experiences of people most marginalized.

WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW

Third Thursday of each month, 7:00 - 8:30 PM EST

The purpose of this 90-minute class is to offer regular practice of physical techniques and self defense skills. Each class will begin with a review of the basics with the second half focused on a particular topic or situation. Classes will be offered on a monthly basis via Zoom. No prior experience necessary. Please register at least 24 hours in advance.

Power, Action, Change for Teens (PACT)

After graduating from a full year of active participation in CAE’s afterschool PACT program, teens can apply for paid Peer Educator Internships.

Peer Educators are high school teens who identify as girls or are gender non-conforming. As a Peer Educator, you will be an anti-violence activist, building leadership skills and becoming a role model for other young people. You will work with adult instructors to bring your violence prevention training into your communities, teaching empowerment self-defense and upstander tools in schools and youth centers across NYC.

First Wednesday of each month, 7 - 8:30 PM

Please join us on the first Wednesday of each month for an Upstander workshop. These workshops teach interpersonal tools to prevent, disrupt, and help heal from violence in our communities. Topics include microaggressions in the workplace, anti-Blackness in our communities, and xenophobia.

February 16 - March 16

The Center for Anti-Violence Education's Power Action Change 4 Teens (PACT) is a FREE 5-session program for teen girls (cis and trans) and all TGNC youth in 7th - 9th grade. Together, we co-create a brave and safe space for youth to explore, learn and become activated to create change in their communities and world.  We strengthen and expand on our tools and take care of ourselves and our community through self-defense and self and community care, among much more. Graduates of the 5-session PACT program are eligible to continue to a 5-session Empowerment Self Defense course.

PACT will meet in-person at 30 3rd Ave, Brooklyn NY 11217.  The program runs Thursdays from 4:30 - 6 PM, from February 16th through March 16th, with a virtual kick-off on February 9th.

Come to the Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE). You’ll build skills and strength to heal from, prevent, and counter violence.
