Auveen

Social Work Intern

(She / Her)

Auveen previously interned at the Arab American Family Support Center working in case management for families who recently immigrated and worked as a milieu therapist at The Healthy Teen Project, an eating disorder clinic for teens, before that. After graduating, she's interested in using her two master's degrees to work with young girls and femme-presenting teens in empowerment and comprehensive education to address pressing health concerns among Middle Eastern and South African (MENA) communities as well as others. She is graduating this year with her Master's in Social Work and in Public Health, and a Bachelor's in Psychology.

Auveen believes there is a lot of power in recognizing one's Positionality in the world and feeling empowered in all the ways you identify. She wants to explore the intersection between empowerment and sexuality, and the ways sex education in the U.S. can help rather than hinder young people's views of themselves and others. She strives to apply a culturally aware lens to enhance accessibility and inclusivity in all her work. She's from the Bay Area originally but has been living in NYC for the last 2 years. She loves the outdoors, trying new foods, live music, and spending time with loved ones!
