Jasmín
Youth Leadership Coordinator
(She / Her)
Jasmín joined CAE's team in June of 2021 as an Upstander instructor, and transitioned to lead our youth programming in September of that same year. She is passionate about the power of community, collective healing, and co-creating brave spaces with young people where they can unpack, question, learn and envision. Jasmín is committed to providing a culturally relevant education that centers healing and joy, and is complimentary the young people's interests and passions. She hopes to bring in her herbalism training to promote the power of ancestral technologies and knowledge in sustaining personal and community care. She is passionate about all things plants, food, medicine making, community care, youth development and social justice.
Along with completing a Spiritual Herbalism Apprenticeship under the guidance of Master Herbalist Karen Rose at Sacred Vibes Apothecary, Jasmín has a B.A. in International Relations & Food Studies from Syracuse University. She has worked extensively at local community gardens throughout New York City where she puts her urban agriculture and gardening skills into practice. Jasmín was previously a Program Coordinator at a local South Bronx organization serving immigrant and undocumented communities. Her work focused in co-creating safe spaces for young people to engage, learn, and organize rooted in popular education, ancestral healing and reconnection, participatory learning and political education.
