Empowerment Self Defense Instructor

CAE seeks to hire a social justice minded and experienced Instructor for a per-diem position facilitating Empowerment Self-Defense workshops for community members and community partners. ESD workshops teach physical and verbal skills, emotional and social techniques like assertiveness, de-escalation, situational awareness and self-care practices for healing from violence. Each session is facilitated through a trauma-informed lens and centers the experiences of those most at risk for violence. Programs take place virtually and in person, at CAE’s Brooklyn office, as well as on request across the five boroughs at workplaces, schools, CBOs, faith institutions, and more. Empowerment Self-Defense Instructors work primarily with those who are themselves targets or survivors of violence
