UPSTANDER

A person who:

  1. Takes action when they see an act of intolerance.

  2. Speaks or acts in support of an individual or cause, intervening on behalf of a person being attacked or bullied.

  3. Actively works to create an anti-oppressive world.

The Upstander program is communal education open to anyone looking for interpersonal tools to prevent, disrupt and help heal from violence in their communities. Workshops are interactive, addressing a range of topical concerns. Participants walk away with a greater understanding of how to center humanity across identity groups and operationalize skills like de-escalation and active bystander interventions.

Across the Table: Calling in Friends & Family During the Holidays

Monday, November 20th 6:30-8:30 PM

When it comes to our friends and families, speaking up against interpersonal violence & harm or oppressive ideologies can be challenging and complex. When sitting across the table from someone, perhaps sharing space, food, or traditions with beloved ones -- how do we intervene? In this workshop, you'll co-create strategies of care and safety for yourself and for others. You'll explore the connections between oppressive ideologies, and how they show up in our institutions and relationships. You'll learn tools and strategies to create systems of support, and intervene when microaggressions occur.
